At Paradise Villa we understand the importance of helping our seniors stay engaged and avoiding isolation. Loneliness and social isolation have been linked to poor health outcomes and the prevalence of isolation among seniors who live at home may be as high as 43%. Social isolation has been demonstrated to lead to numerous detrimental health effects in older adults, including: An increased number of falls, dementia and re-hospitalization.
At Paradise Villa we understand the importance of promoting a sense of purpose with our seniors. Seniors with a sense of purpose are less likely to succumb to the negative effects of social isolation. Encouraging seniors to remain active in their hobbies and interests, and providing our residents with opportunities to volunteer can help them maintain their sense of purpose and keep them from feeling isolated and lonely.
At Paradise Villa we have hundreds of ways of promoting a sense of purpose. We have a group called the Marvelous Manatee – This is a group where our residents learn about the Florida manatee, specifically, its evolution to its protected status as an endangered and threatened species.
Come and see our community and see just how rich and robust our activities and experience our senior’s sense of well being and being taken care of well. Call us at (831) 475-1380
